FAQ
Can we cookout on the farm and can it be meat?
I am a carnivore, my wife and kid are vegetarians. You be you while here, eat what you like, just don’t eat our friends!
Can we feed the animals?
If you want to feed the animals, you will want to go along with the morning or night feedings (typically 8 am and sunset). All animals are on strict diets and can not be fed people food or animal feed other than in the morning and night. Except the ducks and geese. We’ll give you lots of bread and you can go feed them anytime you wish. Pigs can also be fed just about anything. And the emus will be thrilled to eat your egg shells!
Can we bring our 4-wheelers, side x side or golf cart?
Absolutely. You can ride on the property or on the dirt roads all around is. But remember, you must have a GA fishing or hunting license to be on that land. NO MOTORBIKES
Can we bring our horses? Absolutely. Plenty of room in the pasture for your horses. I’ll give them their own pasture. I have a Braddock or two available also. You can trail ride the 50,000 acres of GA state owned land.
Is there a place to fish?
We have two spring fed ponds- one for swimming and one for fishing so bring your fishing poles (bamboo cane poles are available, but you’ll want to bring your own bait!). If nobody is swimming then both ponds can be for fishing. Ponds we stocked with bass, catfish and blue gill years ago. And let’s not forget the Altamaha River is just a mile away on a dirt road. Williamsburg Landing.
The farm is surrounded by 50,000+ acres of state owned land-lots of privacy and a lack of city noise. We are two miles on a dirt road from Williamsburg Landing on the Altamaha River. From this boat launch, the Altamaha is 20+\- miles to Darien (local shrimping town) and 30+\- miles to the Atlantic Ocean.
There is a small cemetery (six headstones) from the 1800’s behind the farm that I can drive you to in our six seater Polaris. Also, there is a cliff overlooking the Altamaha River I can take you to see. Just ask!
Plenty of trails and dirt roads surrounding the farm. It is state owned land and legally you must have either a fishing or hunting license to be on the land or you’ll be trespassing according to the state.
We do have an outdoor movie projector, screen and speaker if you want to watch a movie outdoors at night or you could even watch it in the rec center.
WI-FI and CELL SERVICE
We want families and guests to unplug while they are here and play on our farm. We encourage guests to spend time together petting the animals or simply playing outside. For this reason we do NOT offer wifi. Cell phone reception is spotty on the farm. Wifi is available only for emergencies and only on my front porch.
We are pet friendly and I have a designated dog run if needed in theRV area. We do have two small dogs that are free range and two medium dogs on the property that are usually inside a fence.
Are you a fitness junkie? We have a 1,000 square foot fitness center with ellipticals, treadmills, free weights, heavy bag and more. You’ll have 24 hour access if ya want. Or go out to the pasture and do some goat yoga. The newborns love to jump on you while you pose. We had five newborns the last week of 2022 and they were all about 4 pounds, today they are bigger! You’ll need your own instructor, I fall over when I try yoga.
On a clear night you’ll be able to stare at stars galore as we are over ten miles to the nearest towns of Jesup and Brunswick so not much light pollution. Be sure to get one of the star gazing apps that tell you what your looking at just by pointing your smartphones camera at a night star.
Across the river is a flight school where they have a bombing range. If you are lucky enough to be here while they are in session, you’ll see jets racing across the sky, or more likely hear them as they usually are flying faster than sound. And at night you may even catch glimpse of the flares or dummy bombs they drop.
PRICES:
Stay for a night or a week.
1-5 nights: $60/night
Week: $300/6 nights
Currently we don’t offer monthly rates. I would consider a monthly rate for traveling nurses on either the 1-bedroom barndominium or a RV spot. This farm loves and appreciates nurses!!!
